Peter has been an artisan with GORP for 2 years and has learned basketry and jewelry. He especially likes making our Upendo Wrap Bracelet and our Cross Bracelet. He has learned life skills such as learning how to associate with people from different backgrounds and entrepreneurship. Employment with GORP has helped him to be able to pay his mother’s bills and also for his young brothers. His life has changed drastically as he has moved out of the slum where he has been able to avoid so many difficult things that happen in the slum such as drug abuse. Peter wants to set out to save money and start his own business of selling clothes and shoes. Moving to Nanyuki has helped him for he is ability to focus on his goals. One of our previous artisans, Patrick has impacted him so much for teaching him how to make fabric bowls and trivets.
